Tragedy in the South

Sitting here watching the news....CRYING!!!! Prayers go out to those who have survived Hurricane Katrina. People have lost homes, family members, their livelihood, meanwhile others are stealing and killing. How do people justify looting? I understand they are in search of food, medicine, etc, but jeans, tv's, jewelry??????? WHY?!?!?! How do we as humans even think of breaking the law when there is so much other loss going on around us? People are shooting people. There is enough tragedy caused by nature, why do we need to hurt each other? Grown men crying, people roaming around with lost looks on their faces, a man searching for his wife, children oblivious to the true destruction, houses leveled to pieces of wood while other houses are submerged in water, why do we need to disrespect each other?

Mr. Bush...Thanks for cutting your vacation short and getting on with your job, that is the welfare of the United States of America. Too bad the tragedy didn't happen to Florida...maybe your vacation would have been cut shorter than today in preparation for the disaster that was about to hit our country. (Anyone sense my sarcasm?!) I heard that they had to halt air recovery efforts while the President toured the areas hit by the hurricane. Uh really?! Do you honestly think that people are going to worry about hurting our president during this time?! I'm sorry but saving people who are stranded on their roofs are more important than even thinking that the air space around Bush can be compromised.

Finally, just the other day they did a report on George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Mr. Cindy Crawford (sorry I can't remember his name at the moment), and their plans for this new Vegas condo/resort thing. I wonder if they will put that project on hold and help with the relief efforts in LA, MS, AL and GA. Does that not make sense?! Do we really need another hotel in Vegas? Will the celebrities that stepped up for the tsunami victims step up for their people at HOME?! Please do not disappoint me!

Anyway, these are just random thoughts as I watch the coverage over the past couple of days. Please pray for the survivors of Katrina. I can't help financially, but belief that a higher power will give the victims of this tragedy some strength is hope enough.
