NOT the last man standing

Damn Packers! I can't believe they lost to Arizona! I knew I should have gone with the Vikings again. My other pick would have been Tampa Bay. Now in week 3, I am out of BOTH Last Man Standing pools...ARGH!!!! There is a reason I'm not a Green Bay fan and this just reinforces it more. Luckily, my Bears play them in the new Soldier Field, the first home game. Hope GB can screw it up again! GO BEARS!

Right-brained, Left-brained

Rosie, you are one of those rare individuals who are perfectly "balanced" in both your hemispheric tendencies and your sensory learning preferences. However, there is both good news and bad news.

A problem with hemispheric balance is that you will tend to feel more conflict than someone who has a clearly established dominance. At times the conflict will be between what you feel and what you think but will also involve how you attack problems and how you perceive information. Details which will seem important to the right hemis- phere will be discounted by the left and vice versa, which can present a hindrance to learning efficiently.

In the same vein, you may have a problem with organization. You might organize your time and/or space only to feel the need to reorganize five to ten weeks later.

On the positive side, you bring resources to problem-solving that others may not have. You can perceive the "big picture" and the essential details simultaneously and maintain the cognitive perspective required. You possess sufficient verbal skills to translate your intuition into a form which can be understood by others while still being able to access ideas and concepts which do not lend themselves to language.

Your balanced nature might lead you to second-guess yourself in artistic endeavors, losing some of the fluidity, spontaneity and creativity that otherwise would be yours.

With your balanced sensory styles, you process data alternately, at times visually and other times auditorially. This usage of separate memories may cause you to require more time to integrate information or re-access it. When presented with situations which force purely visual or purely auditory learning, increased anxiety is likely and your learning efficiency will decrease.

Your greatest benefit is that you can succeed in multiple fields due to the great plasticity and flexibility you possess.

Friday Five

Happy Birthday Friday Five!!

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why? Fave musicians are the five guys of wakingNorman. They are an up and coming acoustic rock band from the Dallas area.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? Anything tooooo heavy metal, anything tooooo country and anything toooooo ghetto/gangsta rap. I appreciate the need for those types of music, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Yes, the five guys are the sweetest guys I know (the playas they are). Besides I work for them and they are great to work with.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show? YES!!! From *NSYNC to Dave Matthews Band. The best shows I've been to (and I make it plural because there is definitely more than one)...NSYNC, Barenaked Ladies, Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music? Now being part of the music business, I understand the seriousness of the situation. When you think about it, about approximately 60 million people "download" free music (stealing) and if those people were to purchase 1 CD at (and I realize this is low) $10, that's a loss of $600 million dollars. And you wonder why the RIAA is pissed? Uh, you do the math!!!

Friday Five

1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed? Yes

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be? Last, Gino my mom's last name.

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?) I think I had an aunt named Rosemarie or something close to it. My mom wanted Rose in my name.

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why? No, not really. Everyone has a story behind their name.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com / triggur.org / astroexpert accurate? How or how isn't it? I'll have to check it out later.

Last Man Standing Week 2

I know it's early in the week, but as it stands right now, I think I want to go with Oakland. Any thoughts?

Being Happy

Got this email from my friend Lillian. It ended with the following:

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Simple, but at times difficult. How do you live your life? Time to follow the five simple rules. Maybe we can all be happy and make the world a somewhat better place.

Last Man Standing

The pot is approximately $7000. It cost $21. 21 freaking dollars down the drain because Miami couldn't beat Houston!!!! I went out with about 200 other people. If the games continue like this week, then the last man standing will be standing by the fourth week. Luckily on my shared team I chose Denver. Gotta pick a winner for next week. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
