Procrastinating

Well, I should be doing homework and studying for my exam, but as usual I am procrastinating on this computer of mine. Last night I went to see wakingNorman for the third time in one week. They played with two other acts. I missed the first one, but I saw him walking around and WHAT A HOTTIE!!!! I wish I had gotten there in time to hear Michael Celedon. Maybe next time. Got a chance to see Monkeyshyne though and they were awesome. But not as good as my boys. Please check out wakingNorman and sample what they are about. I know you'll fall in love.

Sweet Home Chicago

What can I say? It's good to be home. I got here on Friday. It's been AWESOME so far. The weather has been beautiful. The food MMMMMM...GOOD!!!! The family and friends...priceless. Danyetta's wedding yesterday was beautiful. I've never seen her so happy. Of course, her bridesmaids wore pink. Her parents looked great. Tracy was one of her bridesmaid and she looked good too. Tracy's little boy Josh was ADORABLE. Candy was my date. Lots of fun.

Today, I'm going to Leslie's to meet the other bridesmaids. She is making lunch. However, I ate already but not to worry, I can eat more. Later I'm going to meet up with Joanne again. Maybe we'll go see "Legally Blonde II." Gotta call some other friends later too.

Anyway, I need to do research for a paper due Thursday. Will write more later.

What's does your name mean?

Stole this from Yano.

This is what my full name means:
Your name of Rosemarie has made you systematic and practical in all you do. You enjoy the feeling of accomplishment from working diligently at a task. Particular about your material possessions, you keep everything you own in a good state of repair, and you budget your personal finances very carefully. You are clever in mathematics and have great patience with work of a detailed nature, such as bookkeeping or accounting. Systematic and practical in all you do, you enjoy the feeling of accomplishment from working diligently at a task. You budget your personal finances very carefully. Particular about your material possessions, you keep everything you own in a good state of repair. This name limits imagination, flexibility, responsiveness, and spontaneity in your nature. It also limits your sense of humour and any real empathy of the problems of others. Those close to you do not appreciate that you may forget the thoughtful expressions of affection toward them. Your very practical nature does not allow you the appreciation you might have for life's more aesthetic values as it keeps your mind mostly concerned with facts and figures. Weaknesses in the health could affect the intestinal tract with constipation and related difficulties such as rheumatism or arthritis.

Here's what Rosie means:
Your first name of Rosie has given you a sociable, kind, and thoughtful nature. Your sensitivity and sympathy to the needs of people causes difficulty when you need to be individual and maintain control over your feelings. You can be easily hurt and emotionally upset and, because you become so closely involved with people, you can be unduly influenced by them, sometimes against your better judgment. You are inclined to put things off until forced to take action. You accomplish more working with people who encourage and inspire you, and particularly those who can give you confidence by laying out a step-by-step pattern for you. You do not take life too seriously, because you tend to live for the day. It is not typical of you to plan ahead, to think of the consequences of your actions, and to set meaningful objectives in your life. You are more likely to drift into experiences, benefitting from social contact and the attractiveness of your personality. You have felt insecure in learning and adapting to new things, and have struggled with lack of concentration and persistence to make a success of your efforts. In the health, you would experience skin conditions because of a rich diet, and also fluid problems affecting the glandular system and kidneys.

Ah-ha my blogger has appeared again!
Where is my blogger???

Happy 4th of July

This will actually post on the 5th of July, but to meet it's still the 4th. Happy 227th Birthday America!!! Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th. My fourth was okay. Nothing too exciting. Just went over to a friend's house for "free" food. Sat at home and watched fireworks on TV. Cried a little because I realized what a total LOSER I am. I was a little sad because I didn't watch fireworks live, but then again, had no one special to watch them with. Figured even if my boyfriend was here, we probably would have gotten into an argument and I would still be doing the same thing, playing computer games and watching 20/20 while flipping to the Macy's Fourth special. Could have gone with co-workers, but again, everyone would have been paired up and I alone. Anyway, later today (the 5th) I go down to Houston to see family. These next two weekends should be good...a nice dose of family and friends. I really can't wait til next weekend though. My friend and roomie for two years is getting married. It should be fun because I get to see one of my other roomie's and her little boy. It's also in Chicago (All-Star MLB weekend) and good ole H-O-M-E. It's also a chance for me to get a haircut. Gotta love Chicago!!!!!

Anyway, here's today's Friday Five (or technically yesterday's).

1. What were your favorite childhood stories? Anything Mother Goose, the traditional Three Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, etc.

2. What books from your childhood would you like to share with [your] children? Same as above

3. Have you re-read any of those childhood stories and been surprised by anything? Haven't had the chance to re-read childhood stories.

4. How old were you when you first learned to read? 3 years old (I think, my mom said I used to also make up stories to the pictures...how imaginative).

5. Do you remember the first 'grown-up' book you read? How old were you? Don't really remember the first "grown-up" book. Well, I guess most of the books I read in English lit would be considered 'grown-up' and if that's the case, I'll NEVER forget Animal Farm...yuck!!!

Happy July!

Time for another This-or-That Tuesday.

Summer Fun!

2. Swimming pool or beach? Again, depending on where I'm at. In Chicago, the beach, everywhere else, pool.
3. Long weekends here & there, or a 2-week vacation? Long weekends here and there, lots of small trips to break up the summer.
4. Destination: Acapulco or Hawaii? Someday, Hawaii.
5. Destination: Mountains or Beach? Beach in the summer.
6. Hotel/motel/B&B or camping? Whatever is cheapest, but preferably a hotel. Although, I haven't been camping in a while.
7. Carefully planned vacation, or play it by ear? Would like it carefully planned, but I always end up playing by ear.
8. Sneakers or sandals? Sandals, feetsies need to breathe.
9. Air-conditioning or fans? Air-conditioning.
10. Concerts in the park or baseball games? Depending on the night, but concerts in the park.

This was a tough one because it all depends on the situation. Summertime fun.

In honor of Summertime...my favorite song for the season brought to you by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

summer summer summertime
time to sit back and unwind

Here it is the groove slightly transformed
just a bit of a break from the norm
just a little somethin' to break the monotony
of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be
a little bit out of control it's cool to dance
but what about the groove that soothes that moves romance
give me a soft subtle mix
and if ain't broke then don't try to fix it
and think of the summers of the past
adjust the base and let the alpine blast
pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme
and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime

summer summer summertime
time to sit back and unwind

school is out and it's a sort of a buzz
a back then I didn't really know what it was
but now I see what have of this
the way that people respond to summer madness
the weather is hot and girls are dressing less
and checking out the fellas to tell 'em who's best
riding around in your jeep or your benzos
or in your Nissan stting on lorenzos
back in Philly we be ou in the park
a place called the plateau is where everybody goes
guys out hunting and girls doing likewise
honking at the honey in front of you with the light eyes
she turn around to see what you beeping at
it's like the summers a natural afradesiac
and with a pen and pad I compose this rhyme
to hit you and get you equipped for the summer time

summer summer summertime
time to sit back and unwind

it's late in the day and I ain't been on the court yet
hustle to the mall to get me a short set
yeah I got on sneaks but I need a new pair
cause basketball courts in the summer got girls there
the temperature's about 88
hop in the water plug just for old times sake
break to ya crib change your clothes once more
cause you're invited to a barbeque that's starting at 4
sitting with your friends cause y'all remincise
about the days growing up and the first person you kiss
and as I think back makes me wonder how
the smell from a grill could spark up nostalgia
all the kids playing out front
little boys messin round with the girls playing double-dutch
while the DJ's spinning a tune as the old folks dance at your family reunion
then six o'clock rolls around
you just finished wiping your car down
it's time to cruise so you head to the summertime hangout
it looks like a car show
everybody come lookin real fine
fresh from the barber shop or fly from the beauty salon
every moment frontin and maxin
chillin in the car they spent all day waxin
leanin to the side but you can't spead through
Two miles an hour so everybody sees you
there's an air of love and of happiness
and this is the Fresh Prince's new defintion of summer madness
