Bush Bashing or just telling the TRUTH?

I think that everyone should go see "Farenheit 9/11".  Political or not, this is an eye-opening movie.  Many believe it is Bush bashing but I see it as telling the truth on what has happened these past four years in our country.  Yes, the movie is a bit biased against Bush, but the footage presented backs up the reason for the hating.  I don't want to spoil the documentary, but it gives you an honest look at the Bush administration and the shadiness behind many of his dealings.  It gives you insight on the war from the family's perspective and soldier's perspective.  It shows how the military twistedly focuses its recruiting on the young men and women of our inner cities who fight wars everyday.  It reminds us that the young men and women in Iraq fighting are there for the wrong reasons.  It proves that money can buy alot of things, even the richest country, USA.

If this movie doesn't make you get out and vote, then I really don't know what will.  Please see the movie and make the intelligent choice.  Do we go through another four years of deceit or do we take back control of our government?  Politicians will be politicians but we can't go another four years with republicans and Bush in control.

Should be an interesting evening....

I am up early, supposed to pull back some trash cans for a friend out in Fairview, but waiting to hear from a band boy. Anyway, later tonight I am meeting up with some friends and we are heading out to Sherlock's Pub. It should be interesting. We are taking a friend out there to forget his hoochie ex that he's been stalking and looking like a fool in front of. We are also visiting our friend who is a new manager up there, as well as playing Trivia. Everyone talked about how they planned on getting Shitty tonight. Maybe I should drive myself??? I have so much shit to do and I am blogging right now. Priorities! =) Anyway, have a good day and wish me luck tonight!

Happy 4th of July!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.

*****

God Bless The USA
by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

First I want to wish my friend Pete a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Not that he reads this, but if should ever come across it, it's here.

It's been a busy week. As can be seen by my mutterings being posted on Wednesday when they should have been posted on Sunday. I have a project due on Monday, I've been helping my friend pack his house, and I've just been running around doing stuff that I can't even remember. Anyway, I can't wait until next Monday. My project will be done (at least for another month when we have another project due), my boys play Tuesday night in Lewisville, and Wednesday I head to Chicago for the week/weekend. Good times will be had in Chicago next week. Until then, I must end here. If I post again, it's only because I am procrastinating.

Ten on Tuesday

on Wednesday...

This is the Ten on Tuesday topic "Ten Things That Annoy You When You Drive" and I pulled this of my Asian Avenue homepage which pretty much addresses the topic.

Ten Things that Cause Road Rage:
1) people who don’t use signals…how else am i supposed to know that you are going to cut in front of me.
2) when you have a multiple lane (at least more than one going in each direction) road and you’re the only one on it, then someone turns onto the road and turn into your lane….uhhhh hello there are two other empty lanes!!!!
3) people on their cell phones, you can’t wait another five minutes til you get home?
4) people who cut across 4 lanes on a highway to get to their exit….uh yeah, don’t you read signs…your exit is coming!!!
5) kids not in safety seats….you want your kid going through the windshield????
6) along the lines of #1, people who signal last minute…yeah, thanks for giving me a warning ahead of time.
7) people driving 10 mph when it’s snowing…but the snow isn’t even sticking!!
8) cars with their high beams on, yes you are blinding me!
9) cars with the florescent lights
10) slow drivers in the left lane

Again in no partucluar order...these tend to change day to day.

Goodbye Ronnie!

Ronald Reagan passed away Saturday afternoon. He was such a wonderful man, even in his Alzheimer's years. He is the first president I truly remember. He was a man that truly changed the world. One claim to fame I have is that I share the same birthday, February 6th. You will be missed kind gentle soul. The following quote can be seen on every blog, website, magazine, newspaper paying tribute to good ole Ronnie:

"Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty’s lamp guiding your steps and opportunity’s arm steadying your way.”

The Promise

This is for Ashley. Thanks to Darcy for figuring out who does the song.

"The Promise"

by When in Rome

When you need a friend, don't look to a stranger,
You know in the end, I'll always be there.
But when you're in doubt, and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around, and I'll be there.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.

When your day is through, and so is your temper,
You know what to do, I'm gonna always be there.
Sometimes if I shout, it's not what's intended.
These words just come out, with no gripe to bear.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you...

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
And if I had to walk the world, I'd make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.

I gotta tell you, I gotta tell you, I need to tell you...

I will. I will.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Have a safe holiday weekend.

Here's a brief history on Memorial Day...

"Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to our country. It began during the Civil War when organized women's groups in several towns throughout the South decorated the graves of the Confederate war dead with flowers, wreaths and flags. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5th, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868."

Let us remember all those who have fought for our freedom. Pray for those that continue to fight in the Middle East so that those overseas can appreciate and live the freedom we do here in the United States. Thank you to all the service men and women who are giving up their own freedom for others. God Bless!

cho
You're chocolate. You're the old soul type, people
feel that they have known you their entire
life. Many often open up to you for they view
you as thoughtful and trustworthy. Although
people trust you, you have a hard time trusting
them. You prefer to keep your feelings bottled
up inside, or display them very quietly. It is
alright to open up every once in a while.

So no one told you life was going to be this way...

I'm sure as you peruse through blogs today there will be a post on one of the biggest TV events last night, the Friends finale. I thought it was great. It ended as it should have, Rachel and Ross - together!

This show has been a great part of my life. I've watched it through college and only lately have I not been able to watch because of either class or work. We used to get together in the dorms and watch with our friends. Last night, I got to watch the finale with more friends at the neighborhood bar. I almost changed my mind about going to watch it because I was afraid I was going to ball, but I didn't. Had they ended with a retrospective and song, I probably would have. I almost cried when Rachel appeared at the door. I was telling a friend, they are each other's lobsters.

My friend asked who my favorite friend is. That would be Rachel, there is something spunky yet sassy about her. But it was hard just picking her. Every Friend had a quality that I loved which is why I loved the show. Friends went out well, and they will be missed.

"I'll be there for you...."

Hello from Florida

Yes, I am in Boca Raton, FL. Happy Easter to all! It's been a very fun and relaxing trip so far. I got here on Tuesday and chilled. Wednesday I went with my mom to see "The Passion of the Christ" and had some good Chicken Marsala at Florentino's. Yesterday I went to the pool and got a little sun. Today, I got a massage...mmmm! Did I need that! Just thought I'd update you on my vacation. It's 12:08, past my bedtime....I've been going to sleep well before midnight these past couple of nights. Happy holidays to all.

Best Phone Call Ever

So yesterday I was on my way to meet my S&E Marketing group to finalize our presentation. I get a call from MA. All I hear is background noise and finally make out "Lullabye." MA gives the phone to Troy and he says "Everyone say 'Hi' to Rosie" and sings the song. They kept me on the phone during the whole song. Got to sing the last part of the song with MA even though I wasn't there. It put a big cheeeeeessssy smile on my face. I felt so special. These people are AWESOME!

In da Club

So two nights in a row I go out clubbing. Ok, not really clubbing, but I went to a couple of clubs where I just sat around and people watched (danced a few times). Yesterday I went to Cool River with my friend Sarah to see John play with a cover band called Mars Hill. It was interesting to say the least. I felt like a little kid compared to all the older folks in there. They were all jammin to the cover tunes being played. The band even played "Don't be Cruel" by Bobby Brown...which was sooo old skool, but good!

I just got home tonight from Times Square. We hung out at the San Antonio Rose part. Seeing all the girlies in there, I realized I was STUPID in my relationship with my ex. He hung out there all the time and I'm sorry but it is such a big pick-up joint. I believed him when he said that he just hung out with friends, but come on, that place is such a meat market. ARGH!!! Anyway, it was just weird being at a club. I am so used to going to see my boys and chillin'. It was fun, but I was feeling a little out of place. Am I getting old? Nah!!!!!!

Well, this is just some random mumbling. No I'm not drunk, just wanted to randomly tell you what I did this weekend.

Anyway, don't forget to turn your clocks ahead an hour or you'll be late!!!!

Awesome up and coming Dallas artists

You need to check out the JFJ Band and Tracie Merchant. wakingNorman had the pleasure of playing with both these artists this past weekend and they totally rocked.

The JFJ Band has a Goo-Goo dollish/Billy Joel sound. They soooo rocked out! The guys competed against them in the Guitar Center's Best Band search finals in Houston last year.

John, wN's drummer walked into a Dallas Starbucks and was blown away by this female singing and playing a hell of a guitar. He immediately called me and told me to remember her name. Tracie Merchant. She came out to the wN show last night and we got her to do a couple of songs. Wow, I wish I could play the guitar!

Check out both these up and coming Dallas musicians. You will thank me later!

Ok Cupid

Found this quiz off of Yano's site. Take it and find out what you are. Here's what came up for me, I am...

The Nurse
Random Gentle Sex Dreamer (RGSDf)

Friendly and eager. Sexy in white. You are The Nurse.

Like your male counterpart, The Poolboy, you're a fun and goofy, but giving, friend. You believe that life and love should be taken with a grain of salt. We'll bet you smile a lot, which people find contagious.

If only they knew the reason...the fact is, you spend WAY more time fantasizing than the average girl. While your friends lean desperately towards love, you're chemically biased towards anti-love: sex. You'd never date someone you didn't find immediately kissable.

Your exact opposite:
The Battleaxe - Deliberate Brutal Love Master

To maximize satisfaction, you should find someone carefree and sexual, just like you. Avoid Brutal types at all costs. A final bit of advice: experience doesn't matter. You didn't qualify as a Master, and your perfect match need not either. Consider both The Poolboy and The Playboy.

BUT ALWAYS AVOID: The False Messiah, The Mixed Messenger

Say Goodbye

Just wanted to post the lyrics of my most favorite DMB song. Read it and take it as you want.

"Say Goodbye" by Dave Matthews Band

So here we are tonight
You and me together
The storm outside, the fire is bright
And in your eyes I see
What's on my mind
You've got me wild
Turned around inside
And then desire, see, is creeping
Up heavy inside here
And know you feel the same way
I do now
Now let's make this an evening
Lovers for a night, lovers for tonight
Stay here with me, love, tonight
Just for an evening
When we make
Our passion pictures
You and me twist up
Secret creatures
And we'll stay here
Tomorrow go back to being friends

Go back to being friends
But tonight let's be lovers,
We kiss and sweat
We'll turn this better thing
To the best
Of all we can offer, Just a rogue kiss
Tangled tongues and lips,
See me this way
I'm turning and turning for you
Girl just tonight

Float away here with me
An evening just wait and see
But tomorrow go back to your man
I'm back to my world
And we're back to being friends
Wait and see me,
Tonight let's do this thing
All we are is wasting hours until the sun comes up it's all ours
On our way here
Tomorrow go back to being friends

Go back to being friends
Tonight let's be lovers, say you will
And hear me call, soft-spoken whispering love
A thing or two I have to say here
Tonight let's go all the way then
Love I'll see you,
Just for this evening
Let's strip down, trip out at this
One evening starts with a kiss
Run away

And tomorrow
back to being friends
Lovers...love...lovers
Just for tonight, one night...love you
And tomorrow say goodbye

Me and my boys

I love this picture I just had to post it. This is me and my boys Nick and Troy, 2/5 of wakingNorman. Aren't they just the cutest things EVER!!!

Which of the five Chinese elements am I? (This would be a VERY COOL tattoo).

Chinese Element of Earth
You are the chinese element of Earth. People who
are under the element of earth are sociable,
responsible and reliable. Earth, you are a
tactician, but you always crave acceptance and
are usually hard headed. The color of earth is
yellow and your symbol is the caldron.
Inbetween all of the seasons is when Earth
shines, and your months are
March/June/September/and December. Your
weather condition is windy. Earth is the

virtue is good faith. Your organ is the
spleen. You were created by Fire and you

Update on my life

Well here's a quick low down on my life. It's been pretty crazy these past couple of weeks. I just finished my take-home final exam for S&E Marketing and I have the in-class later today. We have two weeks until our final project is due and that will be pretty intense since our dear prof has invited some real world customers to the presentation.

Band stuff has kept me busy too....and frustrated. It is having it's ups and downs at the moment, but a friend of mine said it's just that time of year where everyone is stressed out. Some of the ups though...going to Austin for SXSW. We didn't get into the conference, but we got to play an industry party. This past Saturday we played at the Bordon Uptown Run. It was cool seeing the faces of some special olympic athletes when they got to meet the guys. Some of the downs...I seem to be the listening post for everyone, which I don't mind, but everyone is so unhappy and stressed. All these gigs, although strategic, not worth it to some of the guys anymore. They are getting discouraged and that reflects on us the staff and it makes everything crazy! We just need to get back on track. Things will turn around I hope. I love the guys and only want to see them succeed but how can they when they are not feeling the music anymore? ARGH!!!!

On a personal note, feeling a little conflicted in life, but getting through it. I made some mistakes last week, no regrets, just getting me down a little right now. Will pull through!

Philippines, Chapter I

So here's the first story of my trip. The trip was good except my luggage was missing for a week. Got there on Monday and didn't get my luggage until Saturday. What happened? Well....I still need to write Continental Airlines, but essentially it is their fault.

The dumb ass counter guy, whose name I did not get, but I would certainly remember his face, routed our luggage on different flight on a totally different airline. See our trip started in Houston from Intercontinental Airport. From there we took Continental Airlines to LA, then on China Airlines to Taipei and then to Manila. The guy at the counter printed up the baggage claim tags to go from IAH to LAX on Continental Airlines, then to Hong Kong and to Manila...on a totally different airline, Cathay Pacific. In this day and age of airport security, obviously the luggage did not match anyone on that flight so it was left in LA. Since the international airports are not as well equipped computer wise, they had no clue where our luggage was and couldn't even find it. They had to teletext IAH, LAX, Taipei, and Hong Kong, then Continental Airlines, China Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. This process took a week until they finally found our luggage and was able to call us with the good news that our luggage was at the Manila Airport.

We had to go to the airport a couple of times. Would rather speak with these people one on one, but the people at the baggage claim were no help. While "waiting for a flight to come in" they were SLEEPING ON THE JOB!!! I'm sorry, at least go to a back room if you want to sleep, but if you are working at the airport, you should not have four employees with their heads down snoozing!!! No wonder the country isn't getting any travellers, people at the airports can't even stay awake 8 hours a day.

Anyway, the baggage claim people said they would call us with updates on our luggage but they never did. However, Andrew and Christine at China Airlines were very helpful and persistent on finding our luggage. Thanks to them for all their work.

Regardless, though, we still had to go to the That doesn't make up for the black socks I had to wear with my gym shoes though =).

Which Rose is Your Soul Bound To?

glass
Your soul is bound to the Glass Rose: The
Fragile.

"My heart lies somewhere between perfection
and dust. And while my soul is a sight to
behold, I shatter at the blink of an
eye."

The Glass Rose is associated with perfection,
beauty, and frailty. It is governed by the
goddess Aphrodite and its sign is the Looking
Glass, or Tenuous Love.

As a Glass Rose, you have a beautiful soul and
naturally attract people to you. Love comes
naturally to you, but it hardly ever lasts.
Though you embody the perfect form of love,
your own faults are your own undoing.

Friday Five

Wow...it's been a while since I've posted here. I have been sooooo busy these past couple of weeks I don't know which way is up. I was in Chicago this past weekend for a wedding (Congrats Leslie and Bill!!!), had a 10-page paper due for a class, had to send out invites for the band's video release party, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. This coming week, I have a final exam for my Contemporary Issues class (no worries there), I have a final project for my Facilities classes (I am doing the powerpoint, but two other group members are presenting), have to design a DVD insert for the band, sort through clothes to give away, pack...and off to the Philippines next weekend for two weeks. I will be back in time (knock on wood) for wakingNorman's video release. Oh and I need to get my oil changed in my car, do laundry, sort through Youth Summit pictures, and pay some bills before I leave. As much as I want to take this laptop on my trip, I know it's probably NOT a good idea. ARGH!!!! One thing though....it will be a RELAXING two weeks...I hope!

Anyway, I got this week's Friday Five and decided to check out what the questions were. I thought they were interesting so I figured time to post.

1. Using one adjective, describe your current living space. MESSY!!!!

2. Using two adjectives, describe your current employer. Lenient, flexible.

3. Using three adjectives, describe your favorite hobby/pasttime. fun, relaxing, and interesting

4. Using four adjectives, describe your typical day. hectic, cluttered, busy, and spontaneous

5. Using five adjectives, describe your ideal life. happy, loving, caring, rich, and fulfilling

By the way....did anyone see Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight? It's amazing how he could have three musicians on and only two actually performed. I think the show is FUNNY!!!

I still love the CUBBIES

I just created this awesome post and can't seem to find where it has been saved. ARGH!!! Bascially I still love the Cubs and as much as it pains all the Cub fans everywhere, we must follow the age old addage..."Next Year." But this year it is more painful than ever to say that. As I had a full post working, I was watching ABCNews. They just showed snippits of news from the ABC Chicago affiliate and I LOVE the city of Chicago and their fans. We believe and will always believe. It is just not our time. I didn't cry at the bar tonight, but believe me, as I watch the news and listen to the reporters put comments to the images that I only saw up on the TV screen, I tear up. Not only does a city feel pain, but a nation does too. I feel sorry for MLB. They could have had the best ratings in baseball EVER with the Cubs in the World Series, but now must fall back on the poor fishies. I want to post more, but it is 3:30am and I am falling asleep as I type.

However, before I go to bed. PLEASE do not blame the poor Cub fan that made the mistake of not letting Alou make the catch. Shame on the media for saying his name, giving out his info, showing where he lives and showing where he works. That DID NOT cost the Cubs the possible World Series appearance. DO NOT make him the scapegoat for a bunch of flubs made by the men on the field. The poor guy issued an apology to all of Chicago. Buddy....it is not your fault!!!! That makes me cry even more.

THINGS I'VE LEARNED

Going through my inbox and cleaning it out I came across this message sent to me from my best friend Joanne over three years ago...yes I still have messages from three years ago. But it's one of those messages that never gets old.

1. I've learned - that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

2. I've learned - that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

3. I've learned - that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

4. I've learned - that you can keep going long after you can't.

5. I've learned - that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

6. I've learned - that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

7. I've learned - that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

8. I've learned - that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

9. I've learned - that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

10. I've learned - that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

11. I've learned - that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

12. I've learned - that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

13. I've learned - that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

14. I've learned - that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

15. I've learned - that maturity has more to do with the types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

16. I've learned - that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

17. I've learned - that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

18. I've learned - that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

19. I've learned - that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

20. I've learned - that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, It doesn't mean they do.

21. I've learned - that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

22. I've learned - that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

23. I've learned - that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

24. I've learned - that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

25. I've learned - that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

26. I've learned - that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

27. I've learned - that the people you care about most in life are taken away from you too soon.

Fate, Goats, and the Bambino

Game 7 it will have to be.

Is fate and the holder of the curses tempting Cubbie and Red Sox fans? Would they be cruel enough to get the Cubs and Red Sox this far and yank it away? Honestly...it's all in the hands of the players.

It was not meant to be for the Cubbies last night, but tonight Kerry Wood will pitch us to the promise land. It looked like the Cubs and Mark Prior were going to do it last night, but in the Eighth inning it went downhill. I do not blame the poor fan who has a target on his back. God bless the poor fan. Yes, at the time, every Chicago fan probably wanted to jump him, but he didn't do anything wrong...he just wanted a souviner. Even the players feel sorry for the guy. The poor thing is also a focus on the ABC news update later this evening. But what about Alex Gonzalez....a grounder he's picked up a jillion times? It just wasn't meant to be last night and it all unfortunately comes down to a game 7. I will be in class, but as soon as we get out of there, I will be glued to a TV.

CO CUBBIES...I BELIEVE!!!!

Cubs win Game 3!!!

What a way to start a weekend at home! When I got off the plane and was waiting outside for my mom to pick me up...it was freezing....okay not freezing, but it was COLD! That's okay because it's Chicago in October and the day only got better. For lunch I had good ole Jimmy John's Subs and for dinner, my favorite Italian restaurant ever....Armando's. They have the best veal parmagiana. Dinner was AWESOME. Then at home, I watch the Cubbie game, it starts late because of the rain, but nothing is going to hold these guys back. Did anyone see the game...AMAZING pitching by Mark Prior.

Nothin' like a good ole Cubbie win to get the city all warm and fuzzy.

What a HOTTIE!!!!

"Cubs sophomore sensation Mark Prior was sensational in Game 3, outdueling Greg Maddux as the Cubs defeated the Braves, 3-1, to move within one game of reaching the NLCS."

"Prior shuts down Braves; Cubs win"
"Debutiful: Prior's first playoff start amazes"

Mark Prior went a complete game! He is such an awesome player and not to mention CUTE!

On of the best moves made....getting good ole Dusty Baker.

Ryne Sandburg sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Can the Cubbies do it tomorrow afternoon??? It's all on Clement. But if he does just as well as Kerry Wood and Mark Prior, I think it's in the bag. GO CUBS!!!!
